    WATER QUALITY SAMPLING

Quality sampling in sewers and water courses utilises specialised automatic samplers. These samplers can be triggered to sample according to different criteria, namely:-

  • Volume of flow; where the sampler is linked to a flow monitor which triggers the sampler. A typical application is industrial or trade discharge 'flow proportional sampling'.
  • Depth; typically sampling the effluent discharged by a storm water overflow where the sampler is linked to a depth monitor which triggers the sampler once a depth threshold has been reached.
  • Time; simple time based samples where the sampler triggers itself.
Samples usually need recovering from the sampler and delivering to a laboratory on a daily basis, depending on the triggering criteria. Samples are kept in a controlled environment until delivered to the laboratory, so as to prevent degradation of the sample.

Water Quality Sampling is a very specialised and intensive activity in which Indepth Surveys has a considerable depth of experience.

We offer a comprehensive quality sampling service, including: -
  • Planning of the sampling exercise.
  • Pre-installation site survey.
  • Provision and deployment of sampling equipment and triggering devices.
  • Crew to visit the sampling site daily or be on 24 hour standby to retrieve samples.
  • Deliver samples to a laboratory.
Indepth Surveys can also arrange for the analysis of the samples for BOD, COD, Ammonia, Total SS and any other pollutant.

We are pleased to quote for Water Quality Sampling work of any size or location, as an isolated activity in itself or as an integrated part of a Drainage Area Study Pollution Model.
